MERCURY MARINE BSO (Lake of Konstanz – Bodensee) CERTIFICATION ON NEW MERCURY DIESEL PRODUCT“Good Design Award 2013”
Petit Rechain, Belgium – Since the launch of the new TDI Diesel Mercury Marine has continued to enhance and expand the capacity of its engineering operations to include the diesel products.
The new Diesel engines – an improved version of the currently available TDI 3.0L V6 and TDI 4.2L V8 released by Mercury in early 2012 – have been reworked to enhance user experience on several fronts. The engines are available for consumer purchase by July for the V8 and from December for the V6.
Both the new V6 and V8 Diesel are standard with SmartCraft technology that will make them directly connectable to all other digital Mercury accessories. Factory application of options such as DTS (Digital Throttle and Shift), SeaCore, and Axius are available for these new engines.
The TDI product line is well-known for its exceptional build quality, low NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness), outstanding fuel consumption and industry leading power to weight ratio. The exceptional torque at low engine speed will guarantee excellent acceleration and get any vessel on plane quickly. The new TDI engines are TIER3 compliant and also available for light duty commercial (LDC) applications.
For sterndrive applications the engines are available with Mercury’s best in class X and XR drives, as inboard applications the engines come with a variety of ZF transmissions to accommodate any demand. The TDI 3.0L V6 Diesel engine is offered with 230 and 260 HP, the TDI 4.2L V8 Diesel engine is offered with 335 and 370 HP.
Additionally, both the TDI 3.0L V6 and the TDI 4.2L V8 Diesel engines are BSO2 certified.
Both engines are available for installation on vessels operating on the Lake of Konstanz – Bodensee, and comply to the enforced emissions regulations in place for this location.
- The TDI 4.2 V8 is approved for Single installation at 335 Hp and 370 Hp
- The TDI 3.0 V6 is approved for Single and Twin installation at 230 Hp and 260 Hp.
The Mercury Diesel TDI 3.0-260 currently is the most powerful Diesel engine approved for twin installation on the Bodensee.
Mercury’s new Diesel line-up of Tier3 engines reflects Mercury’s commitment to offering powerful, environmental friendly and technological advanced state of the art new Diesel product to the Marine Market.
